Who are Courses Designed for?
Building owners and developers are trying to stay more competitive and are looking for ways to make their buildings more efficient. Mechanical system designers are being pressed to consider GeoExchange system options more often. This workshop is designed to provide a solid understanding of GeoExchange systems for mechanical designers and the process needed to design a system that is cost-effective to build and predictable in long term operation.
This course was developed for the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association. Accreditation is offered by the Association of Energy Engineers. This workshop is eligible for 20 professional development hours (2 CEU’s) for most engineering associations.
The course is available as 10 online sessions, approximately 90 minutes each. The sessions are live and interactive, and taught by geothermal expert Ed Lohrenz. Ed has worked in all facets of the geothermal heat pump industry since the early 1980’s. Participants have the opportunity for discussion and/or questions. Videos of the sessions will be available to all participants for review shortly after each session. The presentations are also available on 10 videos to view at your leisure. Participants are free to contact the instructor by email or phone if there are questions or any clarification is needed.
Videos of each session are recorded and will be available to you on a Google Drive folder to view at your convenience. The instructor is available by phone, email of video call if you have questions or require any clarification for the dura tion of the course. You will also have access to the geothermal feasibility assessment tool (ProFease) at www.geofease.com for the duration of the course.
If the scheduled courses do not suit your availability or you would prefer in person instruction, consider a custom course where the instructor will travel to your site. We will do our best to accommodate requests. Please note that custom course options are only available for groups of 3 or more.

Once training courses have been completed, you will be prepared to take the AEE exam. IGSHPA and AEE have recently changed the registration procedures. AEE now charges $400 when you apply to write the CGD test and certification. After you have completed the course, you can apply to write the CGD test and apply for certification at: https://www.aeecenter.org/
